Friday Night Playlist

I’ve been listening to a lot of Mumford and Sons lately. They’re not really “rock out” Friday night music and this song, in particular, is kind of depressing but I really like them nonetheless. Besides, now that I’m off the juice (aka wine), Friday nights spent twirling around the living room are few and far between.

Mike and I started driving together on Fridays which is really nice. I get to sit back and relax in the passenger seat, we take advantage of the carpool lane (which in LA means you go from dead stopped to stop and go for the duration of your commute), and we get to catch up with each other – something we don’t get to do too often since our M-F schedule is so crazy.

Every once in a while we listen to music and I sing along while Mike makes fun of the made up words I use for songs I don’t really know. Maybe tonight, I’ll sneak Mumford and Sons into the playlist but something tells me I’ll be vetoed. I already know he’ll call their music a “downer” and switch the dial to the Zach Brown Band, Bob Marley, or Chili Peppers.

We have a busy weekend ahead. Tonight, we’re heading down to the Redondo Beach Lobster Festival for some live music and fresh seafood – my love for all things festival-related probably deserves a post of its own but I rarely pass up the opportunity to participate. Tomorrow, we’re celebrating our dear Miss Riley’s first birthday at a super special pinwheel themed party, and Sunday, Mike will be enjoying NFL prime ticket while I sneak into work for a few hours.

Monday will be here before we know it but for now, I’m going to relish in the delight that is Friday! Happy weekend all!
