We had a jam packed weekend or maybe it felt that way because I spent most of the day on Sunday working. In any case, we made the most of Friday night by sneaking over to the Redondo Beach Lobster Festival for dinner and some carnival games. This makes two Friday nights out in a row – a big deal for us lately. Pretty pathetic, I know.
It was a beautiful night. We had a ton of food and stood in the sand stuffing our faces and taking in the sights. Afterward, we tried our hand at a carnival game and Mike won the nugget it’s first stuffed animal. Then we sat and watched a Cher impressionist followed by a very good Johnny Cash band. All this and we were still home by 9:00 to spend some quality time with the Lola.
On Saturday, we ventured down to Riley’s 1st birthday party. Jen and Case did an amazing job throwing a pinwheel themed party complete with an adorable picture collage of her growth over the months, and a candy station with a chocolate fountain. As Mike so eloquently put it, a perfect 1st birthday party should have Mexican food, beer, lots of sweets, good friends, and Guns N Roses on the iPod – all of which Riley’s party included. As you can imagine, we were definitely taking notes!
All in all, we had so much fun sharing in such a special little girl’s wonderful day.
