Well, here we are again. Another week gone by and only 11 more to go. It’s pretty hard to believe but you’re going to be here before we know it.
Week 28 was pretty fabulous. For starters, I got over the worst cold I’ve had in years and got to enjoy the final week of my vacation. We returned from a wonderful Christmas celebration in Big Bear and I enjoyed some much-needed time to myself. I napped, got a massage (a pregnant woman’s gift from God), had dinner with a good friend visiting from New York, and picked out the color palette for your nursery (more on that later). We also rang in the new year with your Aunt Jen and Uncle Casey. It was a great evening with lots of food, fun games, and good company. A perfect way to end a wonderful year.
Oh, and I also had another doctor’s appointment. We’re officially in the home stretch – the third trimester – and from here on out, we’ll be going to the doctor every two weeks. Until the end that is, when we start going weekly. I have to say, if you don’t like going to the doctor’s then getting pregnant is not for you! I, personally, really enjoy it. Dr. Pinkus is great – really straightforward, attentive, and responsive to my often times, silly questions. She also LOVES taking measurements with ultrasounds so I get to see you on camera a fair amount. All in all, I see it as a great opportunity to check in with you and get answers to any and all of my questions.
You are weighing in at approximate 2 pounds 12 ounces, or the size of a chinese cabbage. And, I was especially pleased to hear that your measurements are right on track for this stage. I’ve been dreading the day that I hear, “Her head is awfully large” but so far so good. You’re still in breech position which explains why the majority of your movement is felt really low. I was told not to worry and that 95% of babies flip themselves by week 36. We still have plenty of time to go and I just know you’re going to get yourself all ready for delivery in your own good time so I’m not too concerned.
We signed up for our birth class – we’ll be doing hypnobirthing and I’m really excited about it. The text-book arrived over the holidays and I’m 2/3 of the way through. I have no idea what’s in store for me but I do think the methods and techniques I’ll learn in class will help tremendously with any anxiety or fear I have about labor and delivery. I’m pretty certain there will be at least one complete blog entry about our choice to do hypnobirthing but I’ll wait until we start the class to write that one.
This weekend we have our first of two hospital tours. I’m pretty sure which hospital we’re going to deliver at but I figured it wouldn’t hurt to tour them both to be sure we pick the just right one for us. I can’t lie, I’m pretty excited about these next steps of the pregnancy process. As we make each one of these very important decisions, it’s really starting to sink in that the Big Day is almost here!
And, the baby shower planning is well underway. Your Aunt Jen worked extra hard to get the invitations into homes before the holiday and they turned our beautifully if I do say so myself! I’ve been to and co-hosted so many showers myself, it’s kind of hard to believe that mine is actually approaching. We’re so lucky to share you with so many loving friends and family. I just know everyone is dying to meet you – almost as much as we are!
Well, that’s it for now, little one. I realize my posts have been few and far between and I’m vowing to be better at that as we head into the home stretch. Stay tuned for my 2011 recap and a few overdue Phenomenal Women posts.
Love you lots and lots.
